Invitations made easy
Sending invitations to wedding guests can be a manageable and stress-free experience. Just follow these simple guidelines and discover how easy it can be:
- Use the find a Postal Code service to confirm that you have the correct mailing address on every invitation
- Save your guest list and other important addresses in your address book for future reference
- Print labels for all of your wedding communications
- Order stamps and envelopes from Canada Post's stamps & gifts online store and avoid the hassle of line-ups at the Post Office
- Find a Post Office near you to mail your invitations once you're ready to go
Calculating your postage costs
Avoid disappointment when you head to the Post Office with your invitations by following these tips:
- Invitations designs vary, and so does the amount of postage required
- Factors that could increase your postage costs include:
- Size: Oversized or irregular shaped invitations may cost more. The farther your envelope deviates from the conventional rectangular shape, the greater your chance of paying more postage.
- Thickness: Invitations with many inserts or with embellishments such as bows or ribbons may require additional postage. Also, make sure your RSVP cards are thick enough - as a rule of thumb, if your assembled envelope is as thick as an index card, then it will pass.
- Weight: Invitations made with thick card stock, or that are filled with inserts may be heavier than the standard 30g, which would require additional postage.
When to mail the invitations
Timing is everything! Here are some ways to make sure your guests receive their invitations with ample time to reply:
- Send out invitations 4 to 6 weeks before the wedding date
- Mail invitations being sent within Canada 2 to 4 days before the desired arrival date
- Mail invitations being sent to remote areas of Canada, U.S. or International destinations even earlier
