Fuel Surcharge

Effective in April of 2003, Canada Post implemented a fuel surcharge based on the average price of Regular Unleaded gasoline as measured by MJ Ervin and Associates, an independent company that monitors fuel prices in Canada. Each month thereafter, the fuel surcharge will be reviewed and adjusted as the average price changes.

Canada Post manages the largest and most intricate transportation network in Canada. As a transportation company, we are directly impacted by the recent and significant volatility in fuel prices.

To manage volatility in fuel prices, Canada Post employs a fuel surcharge which is adjusted monthly, upward or downward, as fuel prices change. To reflect recent gas prices and better reflect market changes, the fuel surcharge trigger points and the associated rates have been adjusted, and we will continue to monitor the situation and make adjustments as necessary.
